Force–Velocity Profiling for Goalkeepers Målvakter Introduction Video

Force–Velocity Profiling for Goalkeepers Målvakter
Introduction Video (24:00 mins)
Listen and Watch

My force-velocity video is designed for coaches who need guidance on what to do with force–velocity test results and how to translate them into training and performance decisions. I start by describing which qualities need to be developed based on the profile, and how to optimise speed-, strength-, or balanced-dominant profiles when goalkeepers show a major deficit, minor deficit, or a balanced force–velocity profile.

These methods can be applied to any position on the pitch, but are framed here for Målvakter / goalkeepers.

The video covers:

  • Training approaches, programming and sequencing
  • What works in practice
  • Speed, strength and power deficit exercise menus
  • Tools for measuring explosive power and monitoring training
  • Plyometric progressions, overspeed, fast eccentrics, ballistics and resistance training

My Advice

Start by taking the elements you can apply easily to get going. Be open-minded, try new things, and break the work into smaller, manageable pieces. If this is familiar territory, the content should confirm and refine what you are already doing. You may find new ideas or additional session options. It will require exploration and practical application to complement the science. If you get results, keep going. If not, make adjustments and try a different approach.

Strength, speed and power should be trained all year round; the proportion and percentage of each will shift with training, competition demands, and your coaching environment. I recommend treating speed as a year-round constant.

I hope this information helps you build strength, speed and power for killer Goalkeepers / Målvakter.
